The Society currently has the following vacancies:

VOLUNTEER MANAGER (part-time – 14 hours a week)

The Society of Genealogists has a broad spectrum of services including archive, library, education and publications. This enables us in turn to offer a broad range of volunteering opportunities.  We are looking to build on this aspect via the Volunteer Manager.  We will be looking to structure programmes and improve communications with our volunteers and external agencies. The successful applicant will preferably have a qualification or experience in managing/procurement and implementation of volunteers.  This role will include occasional Saturday workingThe Society of Genealogists has a broad spectrum of services including archive, library, education and publications. LIBRARY SUPPORT CATALOGUER (part-time – 14 hours a week)

The library support cataloguer will be assisting the society in the delivery of its services.  A strong emphasis will be on cataloguing and working with our cataloguer.  Preferably with a qualification or equivalent in cataloguing or libraries the candidate will be experienced in working in this environment as they will also assist in the library.  A knowledge of genealogy or family history would be an advantage.  This role may include some Saturday working.

 

SATURDAY RECEPTIONIST (7 3/4 hours a week)

The Society is currently looking for a dynamic enthusiastic and cheerful individual to be part of its front of house team.  You will greet visitors, answer the telephone, help with lecture visitors and fulfil bookshop sales (online, telephone and in-house sales). First Class customer service skills are essential along with either retail and/or reception experience.  Good administration and IT skills are required.  The post requires flexibility with some holiday cover required in addition to the Saturday.
