Library Visit Bookings

The Society of Genealogists’ Library has now reopened to SoG members only, initially on Tuesdays and one Saturday per month.

To begin with, library visits must be pre-booked at least one week in advance, with staggered sessions available from 11am-4pm or 11.30-4pm. Further visits will be made available up to two weeks before the date of the visit on a rolling weekly basis every Saturday.

You should have already read the Coronavirus Visitor Guidelines before making a booking.

Booking for visits can be made on our website by choosing a date from the calendar to the right (search by date). If you would like to use a library computer or microfilm/fiche reader, this must also be booked before your visit. You can do this in the “Add a note” field when booking your library visit. Please enter the time you would like to reserve a PC or reader. Please initially limit your your session to a two-hour session.

update 3 Aug 2020 - Current  regulations in England requires face coverings to be worn in libraries and public reading rooms from 8th August and it is recommend face coverings are worn in these settings now. The regulations strongly encourage wearing a face covering in other enclosed public spaces where social distancing may be difficult and where you come into contact with people you do not normally meet. You can remove your face covering in order to eat and drink, if reasonably necessary, and in the Common Room only which is designated for food and drink. You must put a face covering back on once you  have finished eating and once you leave the Common Room.

We would draw your attention to the current regulations which can be found here
