Birmingham’s central location and economic prosperity have attracted people from across the Midlands and beyond. Local researcher Mike Sharpe provides an introduction to researching in the three historic counties of Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. He presents a brief economic and social history of each county and shows how local factors influenced our ancestors’ occupations, movements and way of life. Mike also explains the key county and metropolitan archives and sources for research in the Midlands. Sources covered include parish registers, wills and legal records, as well as the archives of local government, employers, institutions, societies and schools.
