In this one-hour talk Ian Macdonald looks at what it takes to research people in the USA, particularly in earlier times (the 18th and 19th centuries). It approaches this from the point of view of someone based in Britain who is dependent on online sources.
Ian considers differences between British and American genealogy. He identifies sources that provide the base for successful research and talks about how to interpret them. Ian offers examples to illustrate what can be found, mostly from research into the Mewborns of North Carolina and their westward spread.
