We visit Covent Garden - originally known as ‘Convent Garden’, because it was the vegetable garden for the monks of Westminster Abbey – and now a popular tourist and leisure venue. We stop at the Church of Corpus Christi in Maiden Lane - the first church dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament after the Reformation - also known as ‘the actor’s church’. Then we head to Fleet Street and its environs. Here, we stop outside Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub – where the vaulted cellars are thought to belong to a 13th century Carmelite monastery that once occupied the site.
