Donate to the Society of Genealogists

The Society of Genealogists has successfully promoted and assisted people with the study of genealogy for nearly 100 years.

In fact it is our centenary anniversary in 2011 which has also been set as a bench mark for us to modernise and improve our services. This will ensure that we continue to attract and retain members which will enable us to flourish throughout the following century.

Modernisation is vital for the future of the Society and by modernisation we mean digitisation. Digitised documents and records are the future and as you might imagine by the size of our archives, implementing this will be a mammoth and costly task. New collections, conservation, binding, transcribing and indexing are also high on the Society’s agenda.

Therefore, we are looking to the future and doing all we can to ensure our success by appealing to both trusts and our loyal members.

Please show your support to the Society by donating via the options below or on the left of this page. Alternatively become a Friend of the Society and enjoy added benefits of donating.

Do you know of someone who is interested in Family History that is not yet a member of the Society?

If so, refer them to us and as a token of our appreciation you will both benefit from a money saving discount. As a loyal member helping us to attract new members you will receive £10 off your next membership renewal*and for the friend(s) you have introduced we will waive the usual £10 joining fee**. As you are already aware, becoming a member of the Society of Genealogists has many benefits which you and your friend can see on the Member's Benefits page.

Each year there is a small percentage of memberships that are not renewed and in the current financial climate we have seen an increase in this shortfall. With your help we can not only attract enough new members to fill this void, but also defy the credit crunch and improve our membership figures.

The more members we have the more money there will be to fund the general running of the Society and many crucial activities like binding, conservation, transcribing, indexing and digitisation.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to welcoming our new members.

  • *Renewals from 01 July 2009 and only £10 off per person.
