Free Access to On-line Family History Records
The open access area, adjacent to the Society's Bookshop, has been equipped with a suite of computers which give free access to the main family history websites:
The open access sessions give people the opportunity to try out the websites for free, meet the staff and find out more about the Society. The Society has received funding from the City Bridge Trust to employ a Community Officer who coordinates the open access sessions and will be on hand to help participants access the websites.
The Community Officer can also help beginners who want to start their family tree but have not used the on-line indexes before. One to one sessions are available where advice is given on how to start gathering information and training is given on how to access and search the websites.
There is no need to book a session, just turn up during the opening times, shown below, to continue or start your on-line research and learn new skills.
Group bookings of up to 6 people are available on request and can be carried out in conjunction with a tour of the library. We can also offer outreach sessions.
Please note that entrance to the free Open Access Area does not include entrance to the main family history library and normal charges to use these facilities will apply.
