There is a small
lift serving all floors. The dimensions are 63cm (24¾ inches) by 115.5cm (45½ inches) with a doorway width of 80cm (31½ inches).
If your chair is too large to fit we have several solutions:
There are terminals for the library catalogue on all floors but it is also available on the Internet (follow the link to SOGCAT). If the material you need to use is on microfiche or film we can arrange to have a reader set up for you and Internet access can also be arranged.
If you can use our lift, the gangways are wide enough for a wheelchair but the shelving is very high. There should be a member of staff or a volunteer on all floors to help you except on a Saturday when staffing is reduced by half.
There is no disabled parking
designated outside the Society’s building (Islington Council has, so far, refused) but parking restrictions cease at 1.30
pm. on Saturday.
There is a portable hearing loop at Reception which can be moved from floor to floor if you need it and there is also a permanent hearing loop installed in the Lecture Room.
If you have time at
the end of your visit, please could you ask for the Librarian, Sue Gibbons, or her Deputy, Tim Lawrence,
to give us feedback on your experience and help us to improve our service to you? Thank you.
