10 Years of Who Do You Think You Are?
BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? Has been on UK TV screens for 10 years now and I'm pleased to say the Society of Genealogists and itsmembers have featured in several of the episodes with Stephen Fry, John Bishop, John Simpson and more. Look out for us in this forthcoming series too. ( I won't say which one - spoilers)
Tonight sees the celebration of the 100th episode with a special hour long look back at the highlights and special moments from the show. Who made Jeremy Paxman cry? (clue - she'll be speaking at the SoG talks as part of WDYTYA?Live Glasgow later this month)
With International spin offs from the show in Ireland, The Netherlands, Australia and the USA, genealogy has received a tremendous boost from this TV series and the SoG has been delighted to help in any way we can with help and advice to venues and contacts. Our Genealogist is involved with the US series currently screening on the TLC channel in America.
This year, the glittering UK line-up features 10 more well-loved stars: award-winning actress Julie Walters; comedian and actor Billy Connolly; star of British Bake Off Mary Berry; acting legend Brian Blessed; actress Sheridan Smith; comedian/actor and the man behind the hugely successful Mrs Brown’s Boys, Brendan O’Carroll; actress Tamzin Outhwaite; presenter and DJ Reggie Yates; actor Martin Shaw; and model and actress Twiggy.
We'll be watching the special programme tonight and tweeting along to #WDYTYA with @SoGGenealogist
