Book of the Month - August

August's Book of the Month is My Ancestor was an Apprentice by Stuart Raymond. Many of us have apprentices in our family trees, indeed for several centuries it was a legal requirement to serve an apprenticeship before practicing a trade. This book outlines the history of apprenticeships, describes the records which survive today and suggests ways in which family historians can investigate their own ancestral apprentices.

Stuart Raymond is the author of several family history titles, including the Society's own My Ancestor was a Gentleman. Throughout August, My Ancestor was an Apprentice is available at the special offer price of GBP 6.47 (GBP 7.19 to non-members). You can order your copy here. Offer valid until 31/08/2013.
