Book of the Month - May

May's Book of the Month is My Ancestor was in Service by Pamela Horn. By the end of the Victorian era, nearly a third of all women and a great many men had been in domestic service at some point in their lives. This book seeks to give guidance to researchers wishing to find out about their ancestors who were in domestic service, or who themselves employed domestic staff. Pamela Horn lectured on economic and social history for many years and wrote a number of books on social history, covering the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries. My Ancestor was in Service is available throughout May at the special offer price of GBP 6.12 (GBP 6.80 to non-members), and you can order your copy here. Offer valid until 31/05/2014.
