January 2020 Discounted Book of the Month - My Ancestor was a Bastard

My Ancestor was a Bastard is a family historian’s guide to sources for illegitimacy in England and Wales. This book provides an introduction to the world of the unmarried mother and her child and discusses how best to formulate a research strategy. It describes available sources: where to find them, how to use them and what information they contain.

The book includes a directory of useful websites and a useful glossary for the weird and wonderful synonyms for bastardy that you are likely to encounter in the course of your research. Finally there is a step by step guide that will help you draw up a research plan tailored to your own needs.
