Online Resources for London Family History - A one-hour lecture on 27 November

Find out about the wealth of material online for researching your ancestors in the City of London and the wider metropolis.

Peter Christian first looks at the range of online parish record indexes, as well as important online data collections devoted to Londoners, such as those for the livery companies, immigrant communities, and voters.

Peter then turns to discuss the many resources for background and orientation. Some of the important descriptive works on the capital are available online, and there are sites with information on street names, cemeteries, and London institutions.

Finally, Peter looks at some of the most useful image collections, including the many maps from the 16th century onwards, both of the whole city and of individual districts, now available online in high-resolution digital scans.
