Public Servants: Excise Officers, Customs Officers and Postmen - A One-hour Lecture on 10 October

Tracing ancestors who were civil servants can be rewarding if you know the right questions to ask. You have a good chance of finding very detailed sources if any of your ancestors were Customs and Excise officers, postmen or central government officials. Sometimes you can find details of their families as well. In this talk, Alan Ruston describes:

- The nature of the records;

- The unique, original staff records we hold, here at the Society of Genealogists, on Customs and Excise staff for the 19th and 20th centuries.

A one-hour talk on Wednesday, 10 October (2pm) with Alan Ruston. Cost £8.00/£6.40 SoG members. Places should be pre-booked, through our website or by telephone: 020 7553 3290 (Tue-Thu & Sat). Do you have a question? email the events department.
