Seventeenth to the Twentieth Centuries- British Population Listings - A Half-day Course on 12 Aug

From early times, the state, the church and many private or local authorities made lists of all kinds recording the names of individuals. Many of these records give extensive lists of names, providing us with early 'census' substitutes.  Not only can they give you information about an individual but also about relationships.  They can also give actual addresses and details about property and other information, painting a glorious picture of the way someone lived and fitted into their local community.

A half-day course on Saturday, 12 August 1(2-5pm) with Maggie Loughran. Cost £20.00/£16.00 SoG members. Places should be pre-booked through our website or by telephone: 020 7553 3290. Do you have a question? email the events department.
