Society of Genealogists announces new Patron

The Chairman of the Society of Genealogists is delighted to announce that HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia has agreed to succeed HRH Prince Michael of Kent, GCVO as Patron with immediate effect. HRH Princess Katarina was born in London and is the only daughter of HRH Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia and his first wife HRH Princess Margarita of Baden, a niece of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, KG. Her paternal grandparents were HM Alexander I, King of Yugoslavia and his wife HRH Princess Maria of Romania, and it is through her line that HRH Princess Katarina is a great-great-great-granddaughter of HM Queen Victoria. HRH Princess Katarina was married to Sir Desmond de Silva, QC, KStJ and they have an only daughter Victoria. HRH Princess Katarina has many interests including exploring the lives of her forebears and their genealogical connections, and has published an updated volume of memoirs Our Insane Family by HRH Princess Wilhelmine of Prussia, sister of Frederick the Great
