Society of Genealogists Certificate of Recognition - call for 2017 member nominations

This award was introduced in 2013 for exceptional contributions to genealogy by individuals and institutions. Nominees may be from around the world and do not need to be members of the Society. Members are now invited to nominate an individual or organisation for the 2017 awards. Forms are available from the Chief Executive, e-mail: . Electronic communication is preferable but not essential. The deadline for applications is 6th January 2017; completed forms must be returned by 3th February 2017. Only one nomination per member is permitted. The proposer must identify the nominee at the time of applying for the form to avoid unnecessary duplication. Successful recipients will be announced in mid-2017. One recipient of the award for 2016 was announced at the Society's AGM in June. This year a certificate has been awarded to Lou Szucs. Lou retired from Ancestry in 2015 after a connection going back to the early 1980s, before which she worked for the US National Archives. Lou was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the Federation of Genealogical Societies and she has written many genealogical texts, including co-editing The Source. The citation on her award certificate reads, "For exceptional dedication over three decades to the genealogy community".
