SoG’s New Email System

The Society of Genealogists has recently implemented a new system for sending out news of our events and happenings.

We are doing this to coincide with the launch of our new events booking system. Our new mailing software will make distribution faster, help us to keep our subscriber list up to date and enable us to present information about our events and happenings in more interesting and visually appealing ways.

Nearly 50 of our volunteers assisted us in testing the MailerLite mailing software and gave us useful feedback on how emails arrived and how they looked.  We sent our first information letter (to member subscribers only) via MailerLite on 22 January and the first events email was sent to both members and non-members yesterday (26 January). If you did not receive either or both emails and you believe you should have, there is some information below that may help you.

Junk Mail – if you can't find one of the abovementioned emails, check your Junk Mail folder. If it did go to junk, you can have the next one go to your Inbox by adding to your safe senders' list (or to your contacts if you are on a Mac). Gmail users may find the email in your default ‘Promotions’ folder.

Bounces – if you did not receive either of the abovementioned emails at all, and you believe you should have, let us know and we’ll check our list to make sure of whether you are on our list with the correct email address. You will no doubt also need to ensure that the address is in your contacts or safe senders list for the future too.

Subscribe – Whether you are a Society member or not you can subscribe to the list here.

Unsubscribe – There is an ‘Unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of every email that you can use to remove yourself from our subscription list. You can apply to re-subscribe at any time in the future via the subscribe link above.

We hope you will continue to receive information from us – especially over the next two years as our exciting transformation plans become reality, and as we draw closer to the Society’s historic move to new premises. We want to keep our whole community of members and supporters informed and connected to us throughout this important time.
