It is intended that improvements to the data input program, Andrew, will be produced from time to time in response to the practical experience of data input volunteers. Version 1.1 of the program was distributed at the project launch on 9 June 2003. Version 1.2 was published on 11 July 2003 to deal with:
- the difficulties experienced by some users who could only use (or preferred to use) a screen resolution of 800 by 600
- the difficulties that some users reported with accessing the context sensitive help
- a bug that caused unnecessary error messages on exiting the program, and
- certain other minor bugs
Version 1.3 was released on 5 June 2004 to enable input screens to be customised to remove fields which are unnecessary when inputting the entries before 1754 (which have much less detail). Version 1.3 is available to volunteers free of charge on CD from Colin Allen at the Society of Genealogists or by download from this page.
Before you download the file please note:
- the file that you download is called sah13.exe and when you click on the download indicator you will be prompted to chose a folder in which to store it - chose any convenient temporary folder that suits you but ideally one unique to this file
- sah13.exe is a self extracting file which, when run, will create some futher files one of which is called setup.exe
- setup.exe should then be run and the resulting instructions followed to install Andrew 1.3 on your computer
- if you already have an earlier version of Andrew installed then uninstall it through your control panel first but install Andrew 1.3 into the same folder so that data files can be easily accessed. All existing data files can be read and edited using 1.3 - it is fully backward compatible;
- bear in mind sah13.exe is nearly 4.5MB so will take some time to download unless you have a fast internet connection

Other useful files
Other files which volunteers may find useful to download are the project quick reference guide and the readme file that explains how to load Andrew 1.3. The quick reference guide is a pdf document which is requires version 5.0 or above of the Adobe Acrobat reader. If you do not have a reader already there are many places on the internet where you can obtain one free of charge. The quick reference guides that have been distributed to volunteers are colour laser printed on both sides of a single sheet of paper and then laminated for durability but obviously it can just be printed out in black and white on a single sheet of A4 paper.

The readme file is just a text document which should display immediately you click on it and can then be printed. A copy is also provided with the Andrew 1.3 installation files whether obtained from this page or on a CD.
