Support your Society

These are very difficult times and we put the safety of our members, visitors, volunteers and staff before anything else. However, the temporary closure of the Society will create a huge gap in our income. We already operate on a deficit and this will make things very difficult.

If you can make a donation at this time we would be grateful.

Donations can be made online here:

The Society has seen many changes in the last 100 years, most notably the need and demand for digital resources. In order for the Society to flourish in the coming years we need to invest in crucial updates and improvements such as digitising our records and documents, essential maintenance of our building and making more of our unique resources available online.

The Society is a registered charity but receives no government funding so we rely upon membership fees, donations, legacies and grants. Please show your support for the Society by donating through one of the options below or use this form to make a general donation to the Society.

Become a Friend of the Society

By becoming a Friend of the Society of Genealogists, your donation will entitle you to benefit from a host of extra privileges including special lectures and Friends-only days as well as supporting the Society.

Fund for the Future

By donating to the Society on a regular basis, we can invest in our future with confidence. All donations will go towards improving the Society’s facilities including digitisation, expansion of our collections and essential maintenance of our building.

Gifts in Wills

By leaving a gift to the Society in your will, you can help ensure that our work and unique facilities can be improved and extended for future generations. There are a number of different ways to give through your will and your donation will be exempt from Inheritance Tax.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer then the value of your donation can be increased by 25% through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you. By ticking the Gift Aid box on your donation form, we can reclaim the basic rate tax on your gift meaning your donation goes even further.

American Donations
