Preparing for your visit
The library of the Society of Genealogists is unique in this country, holding a vast range of resources to help you discover the history of your family. To make the most of your visit we would advise you to:
- Get as much information as possible about the family or individual you are researching before you visit. Interview living relatives, see if any family papers exist, and note any dates of birth, marriage, death and occupation.
- Check our library catalogue beforehand to see if we have the parish registers etc. that you need to consult.
- Bring your research with you so you have all the information you need to hand.
Further information on starting your family history can be found in our free information leaflet.
