Making a Purchase you can use "search" to find specific items. To make a purchase, just click on the items you wish to buy and put them in the shopping basket. After selecting the goods, click ‘buy this’ before viewing your basket and completing your order.
We accept VISA / MasterCard credit and debit cards. If you are shopping from outside the UK, your credit card company will convert the pound sterling transaction to your own currency.
Members of the Society of Genealogists receive a 10% discount on all the Society's publications.
Postage And Handling Items are sent by First Class post within the UK and surface mail overseas. We can also deliver to a different address from your billing one - just indicate the details with your order. We try to process orders within 3-4 working days. Note: overseas surface mail items can take up to 2 months to arrive.

Please note there are no delivery charges for event tickets or Hard Copy services.
VAT Charges For orders within the UK or the European Economic Area, 20% VAT is added to all items (including shipping and handling) except on books, magazines and Royal Mail postage.
Customers in different VAT territories
Unfortunately, our system is not yet able to distinguish between different VAT territories, and so customers will be charged VAT (where applicable) when placing an order.
We are happy to refund the VAT difference to you after your order has been despatched. To request a VAT refund after despatch, please email: email@example.com. Remember to include the order number with your request.
For further information on VAT distance selling regulations and selling thresholds please contact the relevant VAT authority for the country concerned.
Credit Card Security The Society uses trusted methods of payment collection and has passed compliance procedures as laid down in legislation. We use a SSL VE certificate along with secure payment collection. We know of no documented cases of credit card fraud using our shopping system over the Internet. All credit card numbers are processed by verifone and the only information we receive is the last four numbers of your card. Your credit card details are not held in clear text on any website.
Returns Policy All goods are dispatched to you in new condition and securely packaged. If any item is received damaged or faulty, please return it to us for immediate replacement.
If for any reason you would like to return the book you have purchased, we will refund the full cost of the book or exchange it for another title, provided we are notified of your intentions within 30 days. The delivery charges will not be refunded. If you would like to exchange the book please note that we may charge you the delivery cost. Unfortunately we cannot exchange software that has been opened, unless it proves to be faulty. Customers’ statutory rights are not affected by the returns policy. Events Society members receive a 20-50% discount on event tickets, please ensure you are logged in as a Member to receive your discount. Talks and courses are currently only taking place online. Event tickets will not be posted for bookings made through our website, you will instead receive confirmation of your order by email. All events are bookable and tickets allocated on a first come, first serve basis, although events marketing is released first to our members. Event fees ONLY are refundable should the event be cancelled for any reason. No other compensation is available. If you are unable to attend an event, the Society can transfer payment to another event held within six months time. Hard-Copy Service Orders Members of the Society receive a 20% discount on all orders contained within the datasets listed on the sales section of our website, please ensure you are logged in as a Member to receive your discount. Refunds will only be given if the incorrect document was copied. We provide the best possible copy available from the original material.
