A pedigree roll from the collection
Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned family historian we’ll get you to the next level and beyond. Take advantage of our unique records and collections, high-quality education and training, and a member community of willing experts who have faced every type of research problem you’re likely to encounter.
We’re here to help people discover their place in history and we need all the help we can get. As a self-funded charity we always need volunteers and we rely on donations to keep up the good work as well as keep the lights on.
Have a look below for more details and, please, get in touch if you have any questions.
Membership is open to family historians with a lifetime’s experience or none at all. You’ll have access to rich materials and data that are available nowhere else, expert full-time genealogists, education and training programmes, and a member community of great people who can advise and guide you when you get stuck (we all get stuck.)
Our generous and talented volunteers keep the Society going. They come from all walks of life and are vital to all areas of our operations. They also work on a range of special projects to help preserve our collections for future generations.
Could you give some of your time to help continue our work?
We are a registered charity. We have no government funding. We rely on memberships, donations, legacies and grants to survive as an organisation and to ensure that our collections survive for future generations.
As a member, you can make the most of our resources, access our experts, and find a welcoming community of people interested in family history and genealogy.
We all have roots. Let’s find them together.
