Tours of the Library

Our library tours have been suspended until further notice

Our Library is full of family history treasures and records, directories and databases. We have more than 140,000 items spread over three floors. Of course, you can just come in and explore, asking the staff and volunteers for help when you need it. But with so much to see, the Society recommends that you take a Library Tour.

They are free to all, tours take place alternate Saturdays at 11:15 and last approximately 1½ hours long. To book your place, visit our website where tour dates are listed in date order or email the library. Please note that if you would like to undertake research in the library after your tour, you will need to purchase a day search ticket from our reception desk for a small fee. More information can be found here. Free advice sessions can also be booked on the same day.

Thinking of becoming a Member? Our Library Tours are open to all. However, if you join us before the Tour, access to everything in the Library is free of charge, including the Society's digitised material – SoG Data Online - which is also available online from home for Members.
