All SoG members are invited to submit their birth brief form, on which they can record their ancestors back to their great-great-grandparents. This index contains all of the surnames (around 28,000) that occur on the birth brief forms received prior to 2007. Details of those received after that date can be found in SoG Data Online. Variations have been listed separately, as have names that appear in both hyphenated and non-hyphenated forms.

The birth briefs can be consulted by contacting our Genealogy Team and letting them know the name(s) you are interested in. They can make copies of relevant birth briefs for you or arrange to have them onsite for in-person consultation.
